Even if you normally keep a tidy home, the arrival of spring means it's time to take on some deep cleaning. Use these tips to guide you through your spring cleaning.

What to Add to Your Spring Cleaning Checklist

If you like to keep a tidy home, chances are you have a weekly or even daily cleaning checklist. While this is great, spring is the perfect time to tackle all of those deep cleaning tasks no one has time for on a weekly basis. To help you get your home really clean this spring, be sure to include these items on your spring cleaning checklist.

Deep Clean the Dishwasher

Although the dishwasher gets your dishes sparkling clean, this doesn't mean it will keep itself spotless. In fact, if you want it to continue performing its job well, you will have to clean it periodically. This spring, take a bit of time to ensure it stays clean and healthy. Start by using a sponge and some soapy water to remove any stuck on food or gunk. Next, run an empty cycle using a deep cleaning solution. You can also use a vinegar solution to finish it off and sanitize the interior.

Clean out the Refrigerator

No one likes to clean out the refrigerator but it must be done. Not only will your fridge look cleaner, it will also smell a thousand times better. Start by removing all of the food you have stored in your fridge. Throw out anything that has gone bad and keep everything else off to the side. Next, remove all the shelves and drawers from the interior. Take your time washing these with soapy water. As you wait for these to dry off, take a sponge and soapy water to wipe down the interior and exterior surfaces. Move the refrigerator and clean the wall behind it and sweep the floor underneath it. Once your refrigerator is back in its spot, put the shelves and drawers back in and proceed to fill it with your food.

Take Care of Your Carpet

Carpet should be vacuumed at least a couple times a week and you should do your absolute best to keep it clean. Even if you put in a ton of effort to keep it looking nice, you will still need a professional carpet cleaning at least once a year. As you make plans for spring cleaning, be sure to also schedule your carpet cleaning. A professional service will be able to get rid of tough stains, pungent odors, and may be able to reverse some damage. If you're looking for the best carpet cleaning service around, contact DuPage Cleanpro. Not only will they get your carpet looking its best, you'll also be able to walk on it within hours of them getting the job done. Get Your Bed Spotless

Washing your sheets and pillowcases is something that should be done at least every two weeks. During your spring cleaning, however, you will also have to wash your actual pillows and comforter. Most of these items are safe to toss in the washer, but double check the care instructions just to be sure. As you wait for your bedding to get clean and dry, use this time to get your mattress as clean as possible. Use your vacuum's crevice tool to suck up any crumbs, dust, and other particles that may be hiding in your mattress. Next, spot clean any areas that are looking a bit dirty or stained. Finally, sanitize your mattress with a disinfectant to help it have a longer life.

Wash Your Washing Machine

Just like your dishwasher, your washing machine will also need help staying clean. A washer that hasn't been washed can actually get dirty and stinky, leaving your clothes less than clean after a wash. Use distilled white vinegar and a bit of baking soda to disinfect your washer's interior. Next, run an empty cycle using hot water and a cleaning solution. Pause the washer and let the solution sit for about 30 minutes before finishing the cycle.

Prepare Your Patio Furniture

As warmer weather approaches, prepare for it by giving your patio furniture a thorough cleaning. To remove any dust, dirt, or grime that it may have developed while in storage, use mild detergent and warm water to wipe down your patio furniture. Hose off the solution and allow your furniture to dry thoroughly before using it. We all don't have the same schedule or the same amount of time for spring cleaning. Because of that, there are actually quite a few different approaches you can take to tackle your spring cleaning. Check out some options here!
