Remove Pet Urine Odor

You love your pet dearly, and although he's in many ways the perfect companion, he also has a dirty little secret--he has to go to the bathroom like the rest of us.  Unlike the rest of us, however, he sometimes forgets to actually go to the bathroom in order to go to the bathroom.  Considering pretty much the entire outdoors serves as his men's room, this can be hard to believe.  But it happens.  And it smells.  And here's what you can do about it.

Get the Smell of Pet Urine Out of Your Carpet

First, you need to act quickly.  Grab some paper towels and dab them on the urine to soak up as much of it as possible.  Step on them if you need to.  Immediately removing the wet urine will help with the smell.  Next, you must neutralize the urine odor.  To do this, create a vinegar cleaning solution that is one part white vinegar to one part water.  White vinegar will neutralize the foul smelling ammonia component of pet urine, it is also easy on the carpet, which is why it's a great choice.  Pour the solution all over the area and let it sink in for maybe 10 minutes. Then soak it up with paper towels, and after it has dried sprinkle some baking soda over the area.  Later vacuum up the baking soda, and that should do the trick.
